App Review: Ego by Garrett Murray
I stumbled upon Ego by Garrett Murray a few nights ago, and found the concept of the application to be intriguing. If you’re like me statistics are important and checking them often throughout the day is a necessity, after all aren’t we all addicted to stats? Before Ego, checking these various stats required logging into four different apps or websites, and on the iPhone that can be tedious and time consuming. However, Ego brings all your important stats into one view, at once. Nice. Checking things like twitter followers, Google Analytics (visitors), Mint.com balances and feedburner followers is easy and takes just a few seconds.
I emailed Garrett and he mentioned that a new version is awaiting approval in Apples approval queue which will bring a couple of small enhancements. He also mentioned that future stat widgets may include: flickr, wordpress, squarespace, and heartbeat (itunes sales). On the ego-app.com website he also mentions that widgets are easy to build and that if you have a suggestion for one, to contact them.
As Ego continues to add widgets for various stats the applications appeal will definitely grow. Being the stats junkie that I am, this app already has much appeal and will earn a lasting spot on my iPhone applications must-have list. If stats are important to you as well then we encourage you to look at Ego for an excellent, single, aggregated view into those things that matter.
Ego is available for $1.99 in the iTunes App Store.
