App Review: WiFi Fighters by Touch Fever
I recently took a look at WiFi Fighters by Touch Fever, a 3D spaceship fighter game, and was pleasantly surprised by it. The game allows you to host a game on your device, then have others on the same WiFi network to join your game and then fight against each other. Setup for hosting or joining a game was very easy and worked flawlessly. We found ourselves joining each others game and hunting each other down.
When you first start the game you are presented with a menu: Host Game, Join a Game, How to Play or view other games offered by Touch Fever. As previously mentioned, joining or hosting a game is easy during which you enter your “Call Sign” and then enter into the game play.
Game play takes place in a 3D (openGL) environment where you are a spaceship flying just above the ground. To turn: tild your device, to move forward: press the right side of the screen, to fire: press the left side. As you fly around you pick up various “squares”, each one giving you something different like more health, different guns etc. Since this game is intended for multiple players there’s not much to do unless someone else joins your game or you join another game. You can, however, add bots to the game to play against however, and they do a decent job but you will want a real person to go head to head.
While this game does have room for improvement (you can fly through each other and gameplay could be a little more exciting) this is a great first version. If you like going head to head with your friends or family then take a look at WiFi Fighter. In all, we enjoyed WiFi Fighters and look forward to future updates that will hopefully bring more enhancements and improvements.
WiFi Fighers is $1.99 in the iTunes App Store.
