App Review: Xax Pro by Adulmec Game Studios
Xax Pro by Adulmec Game Studios is based off of the classic Ataxx game. Is a great board game, with many different playable features. When you begin, there are two basic options: Board Size, and number of players. You can choose between an 8×8 board or a 10×10, and 2 or 4 players.
When you begin the game, you are the red piece. The goal of the game is to cover the board with your color of dots and end with more dots than your opponent. When you move your piece to an adjacent or diagonal square, your piece divides and covers both of the squares. If you choose to have your piece jump two squares, it does not multiply but simply moves. To gain control of your opponent’s pieces, jump next to one of their colors and all of the dots your dot is touching will change into your color. The game is over when the board is completely covered with dots.
To change the difficulty of the computer, enter into the options menu. You can also change whether or not blocks cover some of the squares, if the blocks are symmetrical on the board, and how many blocks there are. If you have some friends over and you all want to play, enter the options and turn all of the players onto human, rather than computer. One unique thing about this game is that you can also select your theme. The three include: classic, modern, and poker. These each have a different look and feel about them.
The last menu is a help button. In this area the game is explained as well as the aspects of the game that are not the same as the original. For more help visit http://games.adulmec.com. This game is a great board game ported to the iPhone that takes a lot of strategy to master.
Xax Pro is $1.99 in the iTunes App Store.
