emergencyradiosquare1 150x150 App Review: Emergency Radio by EdgeRift Inc.Ever wanted to have a police scanner but just couldn’t justify it?  Well, now’s your chance to indulge in listening to your local police or fire radio conversations on your iPhoneEmergency Radio by EdgeRift allows you to search, find, and stream emergency radio conversations from all over the U.S.  You can find emergency radio channels either by using your current location or by typing in a location to search by.  You can further refine your search by specifying a distance that you want to search within; anywhere from 5 miles to 1000 miles or more.

Once you find a channel that catches your interest, you can tap on it to pull up a live stream of that channel.  Not all of the channels are available 24 hours a day.  Some have limited hours that you can listen.  When you pull up a specific channel, you also see a list of the basic police scanner codes so that you can understand what is going on a little better.  If you find specific channels that you like to listen to, you can save them to your favorites section, making them easy to return to again and again.

Emergency Radio is an good app that can open up the world of emergency services to you without having to buy a police scanner.

Emergency Radio is $0.99 in the iTunes App Store.
