myst1 150x150 App Review: Myst by Cyan WorldsMyst by Cyan Worlds has been immensely popular since its release in the iTunes App Store.  I was excited to try this game to which so many had given 4 and 5 star reviews.  As noted in the iTunes Store, Myst can be a little tricky to install on your iPhone or iPod.  While the app does not require it all, you need to have 1.5 gigs of free space to load the app.  Once the app is loaded, there will be extra space that you can use to load other apps, games, or music.  It is also important to note that the app is easiest to load onto your device if you first download it to a computer and then sinc it to your device.  Because of the size of the app, this process takes a long time.

Once I had finally loaded the app on my iPod, I launched it and found myself inside a book, looking around.  i had no idea what I was supposed to be doing.  Confused and a little perplexed, I went to the Cyan Worlds website to more information about the game.  For all those who are wondering what to do in the game, I highly suggest starting there (especially the section on getting started).

Myst is not your typical game.  You don’t fight enemies, earn power-ups, or run out of lives.  There are merely puzzles to solve.  The key is to explore and be observant.  You can move forward by tapping a spot on the screen that you wish to move to.  You can also look up, down, left, or right by swiping your finger across the screen in one of those directions.  You never know what things you find will be important in figuring out the secrets of Myst.  It may be helpful to write things down or take screenshots by holding down the home button and pressing the power button.  You can also bookmark up to 4 places so that you can return.

If you still need more help figuring out the game you can check out a detailed review and tips on  Most of all the game requires time and patience.  I think the reviews on iTunes stand to reason that if you take the time that the game demands, it can be loads of fun.

Myst is $5.99 in the iTunes App Store.
