App Review: Top Gun by Paramount Digital Entertainment
Top Gun by Paramount Digital Entertainment is a great fighter plane game. You are in the top 1% of all naval aviators and have been recruited by Top Gun Academy to become even better. The nation is in the midst of a cold war, and everybody is worried it’s about to become heated. You begin by being trained how to fly your plane when all of a sudden, bogies fly into your training zone. You must quickly take them down. That is when the fun begins.
To fly your plane, tilt your device in the direction you wish to fly. During your flight, you avoid objects and enemy missiles by staying out of the area of the screen the object/bullet is in. Once an enemy has entered the screen, you can shoot them by locking on with a missile or firing rapidly with the Vulcan cannon. The Vulcan cannon is located on the left side of the screen, and the missiles are located on the right. With the missiles, you can lock onto up to four enemies at a time. To lock on, simply navigate your plane to line up with enemy ship. When the missile is locked on, the ship will be outlined in red. Then, press fire, and a missile will obliterate each enemy targeted. Your overall points are shown at the top of the screen and the amount of hits taken is at the bottom. At the end of each mission, your number of kills, points, and medals achieved for that mission are displayed.
There are ten large missions with tons of great graphics and smooth game play. There are tons of medals to earn and achieve. Can you make it through the academy and become the best of the best? With Top Gun you can experience all the thrills of a navy pilot in your F22-Raptor or a B-2 Stealth Bomber.
Top Gun is available in the iTunes App Store for $1.99
