Similar in style to many of the other “hand drawn graphics” puzzle games (like, Blocked), Geared is a new style of puzzle. The game reminds me a bit of Fantastic Contraption, but the whole premise is quite different. Your goal is to use the provided gears, place them on the screen to make all of the gears turn. Sounds easy, right? Wrong.

Actually, the first several levels are quite easy to complete. After a while of playing I was asking myself if the puzzles would get challenging or not. Adding gears into the screen and getting all the gears to turn seemed too easy, especially on the easy levels. However, once I got into the medium difficulty did things start to get a little challenging. Adding “no touch” zones to the screen makes it difficult to add gears where you want them, since the center of the gear cannot touch this area when you are moving them into place. The secret here is to drop the gear into place by holding the gear above the “no touch” zone then letting it drop. Hopefully it will land where you want, but if it doesn’t simply grab it and try again.

Geared by Bryan Mitchell is a fun and addicting puzzle game that I’d recommend to anyone that likes puzzles (or rotating gears!). We found the game enjoyable and challenging to play for a wide range of audiences. Since the easy levels are quite easy children can solve them while adults will find the medium and difficult levels more their speed.

  1. Remeber that gears are subject to gravity.  So you can “drop” them into place.  This is especially helpful on levels that have the “no touch” zone.
  2. Use the gravity to stack gears where necessary, starting from the lowest on the screen.
  3. If a gear reaches the final one but doesn’t turn it, you may need to keep adjusting it just tiny bits until it does.

  7. Basil says:

For the person with the post on level 80. It is actually possible to do it without using all of the small gears! Note the no drop zone is over to one side and you can get a little gear in to connect up and down there…

  8. Mark says:

Stuck on lvl 80 all day… im beginning to think its impossible… maybe thats why there are no more levels after 80…. hummm

How do you beat level 5

  10. mei-lee says:

    level four?!

  11. Rob says:

Level’s Four and Five are pretty easy. Level four only takes one gear, place it in on the TOP, setting it between the two current gears.

Level 5 takes placing multiple gears. Stack them one at a time at an angle towards the top corner gear.

You can “drop” gears into place, so keep that in mind when you get to the no touch areas.

  17. Kurt says:

I take back that last comment. I did it. I feel so proud of myselt. Now I need to get back to work after call my 7 year old that I got it. I see what you mean about how the gears drop through the red zone in a different way then the other levels. Love it.

  18. Tamara says:

  19. Fiona says:

Really stuck on lev 79 any help or tips please?
    Thanks F

  20. Dave says:

Recon level 80 is not actually possible! spent 2 1/2 hours rattling through the first 79 (how useful is that timer thing!) but spent a whole additional hour on 80 and am now convinced it can’t be done! Seen one “solution” on: but it’s a cheat as it has one of the larger gears placed in the no-drop zone!

…Yes there’s space to drop a smaller gear to the right of the drop zone, you still need one more small gear for it to work…

Ah well, now for levels 81-120 :D

  24. Emma Kelly says:

Hey. I’m using the free geared app and i’m completely stuck on level 10!!
    Anyone help me pleaseeeee :]

  25. Grant says:

For level 9. Drop the big wheel as close to the red box as possible. This should just miss the bott blue wheel. Now drop the small wheel in. You want to just hit the left side of the big wheel. Once done move the big to the right a bit which will make the small wheel fall and connect with the blue wheel. Then move big wheel back to the left. Rest is easier.
