App Review: Racer by Tatem Games

racer1 150x150 App Review: Racer by Tatem GamesRacer by Tatem Games is a surprisingly simple and addictive racing game.  There are no races to win or cars or tracks to unlock.  Your job is to steer your way through traffic without getting hit.  The farther you drive, the worse the traffic gets and the harder it is to stay in the game.  The controls are simple.  Just touch on your car and drag it around the road.  Your car can move in any direction on the road as you attempt to navigate around the other cars.  Some move slowly and others very quickly.

The upper left hand corner of the screen displays the distance that you have driven and the current level that you are on.  The level increases every 6 miles that you drive.  You can switch to kilometers if you are more comfortable with that measurement.  The upper right hand of the screen displays your score and the number of lives that you have left.  You earn points by navigating around cars.  The crazier your driving, the more points you earn.  For every 2000 points you earn, you are awarded another life.  Extra lives and level ups are displayed as large road signs.  A helpful feature since you can’t often take your eyes off the road to check your progress.

Racer is not as complex as many of the racing games out there.  Yet, the game is fun and challenging.  I quickly became addicted as I tried to beat my own high score.
