Tweetie 2 is gone, Twitter for iPhone appears
Back in April we heard that Tweetie 2, the Apple Design Award winning Twitter app was purchased by Twitter and would eventually become the official Twitter for iPhone app. As part of the purchase, Loren Brichter (the guy behind Atebits and Tweetie) would be joining the Twitter team as well. We didn’t know the timing of the new app release but the Tweetie iTunes page was updated to indicate that potential customers may want to wait for the official Twitter version since it would be free (Tweetie 2 was 2.99), to be released soon. That day has come, finally.
There has been a lot of anticipation for the official Twitter app for iPhone and when news broke of it’s release late last night (18th) it got the tech blogosphere active. However, it took until today about an hour or so ago before you could find and download the app in the U.S. iTunes Store.
For all those that have been holding off in buying Tweetie 2 because you knew that an official free version was coming now’s your time to head over to the app store and pick it up. Screen shots to follow below:
