iphone4 hero 184x300 Apple Unveils iPhone 4 Complete with FaceTime Video ChatSteve Jobs in his keynote address at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC10) in San Francisco unveiled the new iPhone 4 today. Of course, if you’re an iPhone fan you’ll know that much of this was leaked a few weeks back, which Steve eluded to in his keynote with “stop me if you’ve seen this before.” The new iPhone 4 sports a full redesign and includes many enhancements including a 5mp camera, a front facing camera, new A4 processor and more.

The complete feature set of the new iPhone is impressive. Aside from it’s complete new redesigned form factor (which is made of a glass front and back) the new iPhone 4 has and all new display (probably the biggest improvement) that supports 960×640 resolution at a whopping 326 pixels per inch. The new display is said to be awesome (which I totally believe given it’s pixel density).

Other new additions include:

  • 960×640 326ppi 800:1 Contrast Ratio IPS screen
  • 3mm thinner (9.3 vs 12.3 on iPhone 3GS)
  • Proprietary Apple A4 processor (System-on-a-Chip) – Same chip that the iPad uses
  • Bigger battery, more juice for 7 hours of 3G talk time and 10 hours of video
  • Cleaner construction free of arsenic and other contaminants
  • Two microphones to support noise cancellation
  • A new hardware gyroscope specifically aimed at game developers to improve phone orientation and control
  • 5mp camera with backside illuminated sensor complete with LED flash that supports HD video (720HD @ 30fps)
  • Forward facing camera to support FaceTime (Apple’s branded iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 video chat) although this is WiFi only

The list of improvements in the new iPhone 4 are impressive. While these are the only ones that we are highlighting rest assured that there are many, many more. Pics below are from the keynote grabbed from We’ve followed before and they have by far the best live feeds of any Apple event that we’ve seen. For a full breakdown of the entire keynote head on over to their live feed (the content is still there) and read through it.

I was quite dissapointed with this keynote, most of the things unveiled apart from iMovie had already been leaked or it just was not that special,

One of they key things I was looking for was Game Center as it is going to greatly improve the quality or games on App Store,

Not only that but jobs failed to mention if they were going to launch an iPod Touch to coincide with the iPhone 4G .

I’m not surprised that in iPod Touch was omitted since they are on a different release cycle (September). But I am hoping that the next iPod Touch includes both front and rear-facing cameras since Jobs eluded to the fact that they would ship “millions of FaceTime devices this year.” Let’s hope he’s not just referring to millions of iPhones…
