512 round 125x125 App Review: Pocket Wine by Wine ParadigmThe newest wine app for the iPhone, Pocket Wine, has just been released by Wine Paradigm. Pocket Wine has been designed to unlock the complex world of wine through its unique wine style definitions. This allows quick access to in-depth wine knowledge in an easy to follow format.  Gaining quick access to all the major grape varieties and blends is a simple task with each wine style easy to navigate and explore.

To our knowledge this is the first wine app to include a taste profiling feature which enables user to discover their preference for each of the wine styles. This novel approach gives a percentage preference for each style, enabling users to explore those they score highest on. This encourages thinking about wine in a different way and prompts consideration of new styles and grape varieties. An added attraction of this feature is that it can also be used to profile friends and work colleagues.  In this way, numerous taste profiles can be added to the app.

Each grape variety and blend included in the app has its own regional profile providing details of the most important regions in the world for that variety or blend.  The addition of a notes section enables users to record the names and tasting notes of wines they have tasted for future reference.

There is also a food matching feature which includes a Do’s and Don’ts section and a list of the main food types and how best to match them with wine styles.  All the grape varieties and blends also have their own individual food pairing advice, with examples given for each.

All the content is original and has been tailored specifically for this new approach to wine. It contains no brand endorsements or advertising and is fully operational off-line so there is no need to connect to the web – it can be used anywhere at any time.

“I am passionate about wine and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to go on their own personal wine adventure.” said Mike Finegan, CEO of Wine Paradigm.  “Pocket Wine has been designed to help people begin that adventure which can last a lifetime, because wine is a gift that keeps on giving.”

Pocket Wine is designed to be an indispensable guide to table wines for the novice and keen wine enthusiast alike. While many wine apps deliver enormous amounts of information this can often be bewildering. Pocket wine is more focused in its approach by giving essential wine information and presenting it in a unique and easy to follow format. This app sets out to unlock the world of wine. It can be said that it accomplishes this with style.
