Dapper Gentlemen have announced that the Ugly Meter was available in the iTunes store. Ugly Meter offers a fun way to determine who is the ugliest of them all. It scans the user by taking their picture and issues a number score based on how ugly they are. The Ugly Meter has been featured by Fox News, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, Today Show, New York Post, Huffington Post, Daily Mail, and Jay Leno. In just 24 hours the app was in the top 10, and in 48 hours it held its place of honor in the top 3.

Gilbert, Arizona – App developer Dapper Gentlemen created an overnight sensation; Ugly Meter, which rose to #3 Worldwide on the iTunes charts in record time, almost overnight. Last week, Dapper Gentlemen announced that the Ugly Meter was available in the iTunes store.

The app scans the user by taking their picture and issues a number score based on how ugly they are. The Ugly Meter has been featured by Fox News, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, Today Show, New York Post, Huffington Post, Daily Mail, and Jay Leno. In just 24 hours the app was in the top 10, and in 48 hours it held its place of honor in the top 3 of the iTunes App Store. Because of its success, it is now also available on the Android Market.

The creators; Eugene Overline and Ryan Allen have done over 100 interviews this week about the Ugly Meter app, including some over concerns that the app promotes so-called ‘cyber-bullying’ between young adults and children.

“Not true,” say Dapper Gentlemen. Ugly Meter was created in good fun and contains totally family-safe language and themes.

“It’s just a game” say the creators “it’s definitely not meant to be taken seriously.”

The creators themselves score rather poorly on the app, which doesn’t bother them one bit.

“There’s a reason I’m a programmer and not a television personality,” Eugene Overline was quoted saying in a television interview “I’m not offended.”

Ugly Meter is one of the many apps developed by the part-time programmer and design duo Ryan Allen and Eugene Overline. Though this is their first app outside of the gaming category, they have many other apps in the iTunes store, and many more on the way.

“We couldn’t be happier about Ugly Meter’s success,” says Eugene Overline, lead game designer for Dapper Gentlemen, “it really exceeded our expectations and just makes us want to push the boundaries of the iPhone even further to give the people what they want”
