App Review: Lights Off by Steven Troughton-Smith

Lights Off is a very clever game that requires a very clever mind. Each level presents you with a new puzzle. The screen consists of 25 squares. Each square is either lit up or dark at the beginning of each level. To complete the level you must “turn off” all of the squares that are lit up. You turn a square on or off by touching it. However, when you touch a square it not only turns that square on or off, but you change the state of the squares directly to the right, left, top, and bottom of the one you touched.

The game starts with a few easy puzzles to get your brain going and then quickly becomes more difficult. If you get stuck, you can reset the puzzle and start again. You can also revisit the levels that you have already completed by touching the area of the screen where the level is displayed. If you like puzzles and thinking games, this one is for you. Don’t think too hard, though. Sometimes the answer is easier than you think.

Lights Off is $1.99 in the iTunes App Store.
