l 480 320 6b46fe02 66a0 4a29 99d7 86e7329dd732 300x200 App Review: LUXOR by MumboJumbo I’ve read a lot of reviews and articles about LUXOR that call it the “best marble game for the iPhone.” Well, as a big fan of Stoneloops! of Jurassica I decided to buy it and try it. I’ve played about 25 levels so far and I’m not so sure I’d call it the best marble popper for iPhone, but it is probably close.

LUXOR by MumboJumbo falls into the marble popper genre of games. The objective is to “shoot” marbles into the moving chain of marbles to create a series of three the same color at which point those three will be removed from the chain. If there’s already three or more in the chain, you still must pop another marble in to the series in order to remove them. You must completely remove the marbles from the chain before they reach the end of the track.

Controls are very easy to use. You can use the entire surface of the screen to control the marble popper. Simply run your finger back and forth to move the marble popper to the right location and then tap anywhere to pop the marble up. Use the guide line to help you aim and place your marbles in the right sequence in the chain. However, you must pre-shoot or, in other words, since the chain is always moving you must aim and shoot accordingly.

My biggest complaint is that LUXOR seems too slow and a little too easy. I just did not find it challenging enough to keep my interest for a long time. However, since difficulty is subjective and so there will likely be many that enjoy the speed in which the game evolves.

Ankhs, jewels and power-ups fall from above and catching these will help you considerably. Earn a new life, one for every 30 ankhs; slow down the advancement of the chain of marbles; change your marble popper to lightning bold to zap marbles from the chain; get a “wild” marble for use with any color; or even reverse the chain.

While we’ve really enjoyed playing LUXOR, fans of Stoneloops! may be disappointed with its slightly slower gameplay. However, if you’re new to this style of game and/or you’re not concerned with the easier game play of LUXOR then it’s definitely worth the $0.99.
