Since i had not seen the movie before i was hoping that the app would cover most of the plot like a movie tie in should. Although after playing i realized a good plot was the least of my worries.
It looked decent from my initial information with some nice screenshots and slick little app icon, even the loading screen was appealing with quotes from the movie. However as soon as the game play was revealed my impressions plummeted. The first thing i noticed was that “Tony” was railed, meaning that you had no control over where he moved which is a big fault in my opinion, if you have played games such as Resident Evil on the iPhone you will know that the system moving from place to place to shoot things becomes extremely repetitive. Straight after noticing the first problem a second came to light which was bad aiming calibration, I hopelessly dragged my finger around with no success and even had trouble killing my enemies with the grenade launcher you start with.
I’m not saying the whole app was a failure i noticed some good qualities such as the production values of the menus and loading screens and other extras such as unlockable wallpapers. Unfortunately these are features which should improve a game not support it.
Overall i would give it 3/10 with none of those marks going for gameplay.
What we liked: great UI and free wallpapers
What we didnt like: everything else
